Rod lenses
Rod lenses, as indicated by the name, is a special cylindrical lenses with cylindrical surface and two ends polished. Light incidents in the side of the lenses and got collimated in one dimension.
Rod lenses can be used, for example, for collimating a divergent beam in one dimension or for focusing light to a line. There are also imaging applications. Note, however, that a rod lens exhibits substantial spherical aberrations when light propagation is not restricted to a small fraction of its cross-section.
Rod lenses from various materials such as fused silica, BK7, optical glass, but also with crystalline materials like YAG ,sapphire or silicon, e.g. for infrared optics.
Coating options include: uncoated, AR or BBAR.
