Plano-convex cylindrical lenses
Plano Convex Cylindrical Lenses, as indicated by the name, is a special cylindrical lenses with one flat surface and one convex surface. Unlike spherical lenses, which converge light into a spot, Plano Convex Cylindrical Lenses converge light into a line.
Typical applications of flat cylindrical lenses are one-dimensional magnification or compression. The traditional spherical lens acts symmetrically on the incident light in both directions, while the cylindrical lens acts on the incident light in only one direction. The typical application is to use a pair of cylindrical lenses to shape the deformed beam, and a pair of cylindrical lenses can be used for collimating and circular laser diode output. Another possible application is to use a single cylindrical lens to focus a divergent beam onto a detector array. In order to minimize spherical aberration, when collimating beams are converging into a line, the collimating light should be incident on the surface of the lens, and when the collimating light source should be incident on the plane of the lens.
Nova offers plano-convex cylindrical lenses from various materials such as fused silica, BK7, optical glass, BaF2, CaF2, MgF2,LaF3, LiF ,Zns and ZnSe with circular or rectangular dimensions or other custom modules. Coating options include: uncoated, MgF2 single layer, V-type, broad band AR coating or customized.
